I have just officially become an accepted volunteer to an amazing organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. I will be on call to go and create portraits of babies who will not be coming home from the hospital. I considered the gravity of this work for a long time before submitting my application, and at first thought there was no way I could do this without suffering the devastation of what this meant to the families involved. I put it on the shelf for a long time and finally somehow have come around to realizing I can do it and the treasure it will be for the families is immeasurable. I feel ready to step up for it and know it will feel good to provide this service.

I have to say that this was definitely one of my most fun newborn sessions. I love going to the family home for these because there is so much opportunity for something unique and different. When I found out Tosha and Greg had a new Harley, I knew we had to at least try to get their new son on it. I didn't know how we were going to pull it off and it was a completely heart -pounding -terrifying process, but mom and dad were both close on hand and only out of the frame for a split second. Even that made my heart race a bit, but luckily we got the shot and the look on everyone's face was all worth it. They are getting a nice 16x24 metallic standout print for dad... I can't wait to see it!

Wow- March has blown in like a hail storm... oh yeah we had one of those. Well, sadly it was almost a year to the day since we put our sweet black lab Jasmine down that my 15 year old sheltie Andy had to join her on March 11, the day of the big earthquake in Japan. Our own personal tsunami so to speak. He will never be replaced; Andy was the sweetest dog we could have asked for. He came in as a timid and shy pound puppy that had been abused for a few months. After 6 months with us he knew he was home and he gave us every ounce of love he had to give. Sleeping outside my two kids' bedroom doors at night for years keeping an eye on his flock of kidsheep. When I get some free time I'll put together a slideshow of our favorite images of him. We still have little Coco our 13 year old Yorkie, but she is pretty disoriented with her buddy gone. Andy was like a dad to her. He will be very missed for a long time.
